Description:
As part of a Woodcraft School course (called "Whole of the Animal") we were instructed to make a cranial burr hole in a fallow deer, to allow the brain to be removed, ready for use in tanning. I used a flint blade in a similar fashion that would have been used for human trepanning - the oldest known use of trepanning was found in a skull from Dnieper Rapids cemeteries near Kiev in Ukraine and dated to 7,300 - 6,220 BC. http://www.ancientcraft.co.uk
