Description:
Well, this is actually an old school proyect. very interesting. if you feel bothered by the music please turn it off, some of the footage didn't have any audio and i was requested to put some music in it. First Case: Bombing of Plaza de Mayo, Argentina 1955, Part of the "Revolucion libertadora" The Bombing of Plaza de Mayo was a massacre which took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 16 June 1955. On that day, 30 aircraft (including Gloster Meteors) from the Argentine Navy and Air Force strafed and bombed Plaza de Mayo square in Buenos Aires, in what remains to this day the largest aerial bombing ever on the Argentine mainland. The attack targeted the adjacent Casa Rosada, the official seat of government, as a large crowd was expressing support for president Juan Perón. The strike took place during a day of official public demonstrations to condemn the burning of a national flag allegedly carried out by detractors of Perón during the recent procession of Corpus Christi. The action was to be the first step in an eventually aborted coup d'état. The number of identified bodies was put at 308 —including six children— plus an indeterminate number of victims that couldn´t be identified (Wikipedia source) A sad/ironic fact is that this was the "Baptism by fire" of the Argentinian airforce. Second Case: Chile 1973, Strafe of the Palacio de la Moneda During the military coup d'état on September 11, 1973, the Chilean Air Force bombarded the palace at the request of the army, Two Hawker hunters were involved attacking with Sura P3 rockets. The GAP (the personal guards and friends of the president armed with RPGs and AKs) fought for a while, but they were defeated easily. This was the end of the presidence of the marxist Salvador Allende (he shot himself with an AK-47 before the militaries took the Palace), and the rise of the dictator ship from 1973 to 1990
